Deutsche Post DHL awards data center services to T-Systems

Rochester Hills, Mich, February 26, 2010

Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL), the world’s leading mail and logistics group, has selected T-Systems, Deutsche Telekom’s corporate customer unit and a leading provider of information and communications technologies (ICT), to manage its North American data center production services based in Scottsdale, Arizona.
As part of the five-year deal valued at a high double-digit million US-dollar amount, T-Systems assumes ownership of DPDHL’s U.S. data center facility in Scottsdale, Arizona. In the future, T-Systems will provide IT run services to DPDHL to deliver IT infrastructure and applications through demand-based computing. Additionally, DPDHL’s nearly 100 Scottsdale-based employees have transitioned to T-Systems.
The outsourcing contract calls for T-Systems to provide DPDHL with a wide range of technical IT services including data center and server operations, application management, front-end and solutions support. By automating and standardizing processes, T-Systems will maintain service quality, including rapid-response times, time-to-recovery and execution intervals, while reducing process costs
“With T-Systems we opted for a trusted partner who is eager to grow its business in North America”, says Ralf Weissbeck, Managing Director IT Services of Deutsche Post DHL. “This is a clear benefit for our employees who will profit from long-term professional opportunities. Additionally, we will be able to draw flexibly on IT resources thereby turning fixed costs into variable ones.”
“We are proud and excited that Deutsche Post DHL selected T-Systems as the service provider for their Scottsdale data center,” said Heike Auerbach, T‑Systems’ Managing Director in North American. “This contract continues the trend of large, multi-national corporations selecting T-Systems for dynamic cloud-based data center and application services. It reinforces our strong growth in North America in 2009.”
T-Systems has grown internationally by focusing on globally operating corporations based in Europe. Due to recent big deals from Shell, BP and Philips the company has recorded strong growth in the U.S. In addition, T‑Systems in North America provides ICT services to a number of European and North American headquartered multinational market leaders.
The transition and full implementation will be completed in early 2010.
